Biography
Emerging from the nocturnal pulse of Sydney, Midnight Zephyr is a captivating alternative rock band that has been painting the local music scene with their pop sensibilities and evocative lyrics since their inception in 2020. The quartet, consisting of lead vocalist/guitarist John McCarthy, bassist/vocalist Nick Seroukas, lead guitarist Aaron Sedlak, and drummer Leroy Heta, came together with a shared desire to create a sonic experience that transports listeners to unseen realms.
In the dimly lit venues and hidden gems of the local circuit, Midnight Zephyr quickly garnered attention for their mesmerizing live performances, seamlessly blending raw emotive energy with the fun and passion of being alive. Influenced by the likes of Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, as well as pop acts such as Dua Lipa and DNCE, the band carved a niche for themselves with a sound that oscillates between loud choruses and softer melodic verses that keep the audience at bated breath.
In 2021, Midnight Zephyr released their debut single "Walls" a hard rock anthem that transcended the listener to fight back against the monotony of a "normal" life. During this time, they played at venues such as the Burdekin Hotel, opening for emo rock heartbreakers Clay J Gladstone. They also supported grunge veterans Halfwait and headlined their own shows at Huxleys and the Taren Point Hotel, where they were received with great success. After the release of the single, the band went on hiatus due to personal matters.
In 2023, Midnight Zephyr reconvened and rediscovered the magic that brought them together. They will be releasing their next single "Tonight" in February 2024 an infectious track that fuses disco pop and groovy rhythms, which will then be followed by an EP and tour.
As the band continues to navigate the moonlit pathways of the local scene, Midnight Zephyr remains committed to their artistic vision and the exploration of the uncharted realms within their music.
